40 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies In Delhi to get ownership rights, announces Centre
New Delhi: Ahead of Diwali festival, the Indian government on Wednesday said it has decided to award ownership rights to around 40 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies.
Speaking on the issue, Union Minister Hardeep Puri said: "The Cabinet approves regulations for conferring or recognizing ownership or mortgage or transfer rights to 40 lakh residents of unauthorized colonies in Delhi."

Puri said the people can take loans to construct homes in the colonies now.
He said bill to be introduced in connection with the matter in the next session of the Parliament.
