Panaji, Mar 13 (UNI) At least four persons were injured when scaffolding of under construction bridge over river Zuari near Verna, around 15 km away from the city, collapsed on Wednesday.

According to police, work over the flyover was underway when the incident took place.

The injured were rushed to Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital at Bambolim near the city.

Meanwhile, a statement from Dilip Buildcon Limited, the company engaged in the construction of the over bridge, said at around 12.30 hrs, the scaffolding being erected between pier 61-62 of package 3, collapsed because of imbalance.

Of the four worker injured, one had leg fracture, one bruises and other two had minor scratches.

''Thankfully there has not been loss of blood or casualties. All injured were shifted to GMC Hospital, out of these four, three will be released after first aid and treatment,'' the statement issued by Amalorpava Arockia Samy, Project Manager said, adding prime facie the scaffolding failure was most likely due to soil displacement from hillock.
