30 people fall sick after consuming Prasad in Assam’s Majuli

Guwahati, Jun 22 (IBNS): At least 30 people, most of them women and children, were hospitalised as they fell sick of food poison after consuming Prasad chickpea (boot-mah) in Assam’s river island district Majuli on Thursday night.

The incident took place at Mowamari village in Upper Majuli area. The food they consumed was birthday party Prasad.

Among these people are seven children and 21 women. They were rushed to Ratanpur Miri mini health centre.

Later the patients were shifted to Sri Sri Pitambar Deva Goswami sub-divisional civil hospital at Garmur.

According to reports, few women and children were in very serious condition and doctors are monitoring them.

Meanwhile, the district administration has ordered the doctors of Garmur civil hospital to take ensure proper treatment of the victims.
