3 more channels coming up in the NE region: Rajyabardhan Singh Rathore

Guwahati, Jan 12 (IBNS): MOS of Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Monday said that the Union Government will continue their focus on the development of North Eastern region.
During a press conference held at Guwahati, the minister said that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes in action so he emphasized on Act East policy.
 
“AIR has high reach in North East. Information and broadcasting ministry will encourage in setting up community radios in border areas,” Rathore said.  
 
Rathore said that the thrust has been given in North East region and his ministry will provide supports in setting community radios in the region.
 
“E- Books are being developed by Information and Broadcasting ministry. Three more channels are coming up in the North East region. Doordarshan is going to be digitalized,” Rathore said. 
 
Union Sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that steps are being taken to groom young talents through Sports Talent Search scheme.
 
He hoped that the efforts of the Centre would help in eliminating violence from the region.
 
He said that steps are being taken to set up a sports university in Manipur.
