23-year-old woman hacked to death by spurned lover in Coimbatore

Coimbatore, Sept 15 (IBNS) : A 23-year-old old woman was hacked to death in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore on Wednesday night allegedly by a man she had rejected, NDTV reports.

S Dhanya, already betrothed to another man,  was alone at home when Zahir allegedly entered the house and pounced on her with a sickle, reports quoted police as saying.

The 27-year-old accused allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison after killing Dhanya. He has been admitted to an ICU ward of a hospital in Palakkad.

Police said that the accused, a mill worker, was a family friend. But , Dhanya's parents rejected his proposal of marrying their daughter.
