West Bengal registers 2,949 new cases, toll crosses 2,000-mark

With 2,949 fresh infections and 51 more fatalities reported in the past 24 hours, West Bengal's Covid-19 tally on Saturday mounted to 92,615, including 25,486 active cases, 2,005 deaths and 65,124 discharges.

According to a bulletin issued by Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the last 24 hours, 2,064 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, though the recovery rate has dropped to 70.32 per cent from 70.33 per cent.

India reports 62,538 cases, 886 fatalities in past 24 hours

India reported the highest single-day spike of 62,538 Covid-19 cases during the past 24 hours while 886 people succumbed to the disease in the same period.

The overall cases have now surpassed the 20-lakh mark, reaching 20,27,075, whereas the death toll has mounted to 41,585, Union Health Ministry said in its daily update.

Currently, 6,07,384 cases are active pan-India, while more than double -- 13,78,105 -- have recovered from the disease.

The active cases witnessed a surge of 11,883 cases.

Meanwhile, as many as 49,769 patients were cured in the past 24 hours.

87.6% of Covid-19 fatalities are due to comorbidities: West Bengal government

The West Bengal government on Thursday said 87.6% of Covid-19 fatalities in the state are due to comorbidities, at a time the eastern part of the country is witnessing a massive surge in Novel Coronavirus cases.

In presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha said, "Only 2.2% of Covid patients have died so far. Even out of 2.2%, 87.6% of them had comorbidities."

Total no of fatalities in Marathwada reach 977

At least 1015 fresh COVID-19 cases highest so far were reported across the eight districts of Marathwada region in last 24 hours.

While 21 fatalities were also reported in the eight districts till late Wednesday late night.

With this, the total number of fatalities reached 977 in these districts, while COVID-19 tally in the region mounted to 27,899.

On a positive front 17930 patients were cured and discharged.

Aurangabad's Covid cases go down

The daily Coronavirus cases in Aurangabad has registered a reduction in past few days with infection cases going down to 50 and the tally now residing at 15,540 after 49 people tested positive here till Thursday morning.

As per the district administration sources, 503 patients have died in the state so far, three till this morning, which includes a 52-year-old man from N-12, Hudco, a 49-year-old woman from Jadhavwadi and a 61-year-old woman from Arihant Nagar.

Of the fresh cases, 38 are from the urban area while 11 from rural parts of the district.

So far 11,521 patients have been treated and discharged here with 3,516 active cases, they further said.

India reports over 56,000 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, tally close to 20 lakh

India reported over 56,000 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings, pushing the overall tally close to 20 lakh.

The South Asian country witnessed a big spike in cases by reporting 56,282 cases in the last 24 hours.

As per the Union Health Ministry's data, there are 5,95,501 active cases while 13,28,336 people have so far been discharged.

With 904 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Covid toll in the vast country now touched 40,699.

Kerala: 13 more hotspots, total 509

Health Minister KK Shailaja in a statement here said 10 places were also exempted from the hotspot list.

Dharmendra Pradhan tests positive for Covid-19, hospitalised

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tested positive for Novel Coronavirus or Covid-19 on Tuesday.

Pradhan said he has been hospitalised as per doctors' advice but he is keeping good health.

"After getting symptoms for Covid-19, I had undergone a test which came out positive. As per doctors' advice, I have been hospitalised but keeping good health," tweeted the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Minister of Steel.

 

Karnataka: BJP MLA tests positive for Covid-19

Former minister and senior BJP MLA, Haratal Halappa, representing Sagar Assembly seat in Shivamogga district, tested positive for the Covid-19 on Tuesday.

According to official sources, the BJP MLA, who had recently appointed as the Chairman of the state-owned MSIL recently, tested positive for the pandemic and is presently being treated at a private hospital in the city.

Sources said that the MLAs, wife and his driver also tested positive for the Covid-19 and was admitted to the hospital.

Karnataka: Former CM Siddaramaiah tests COVID-19 positive

After Karnataka CM Yediyurappa testing Covid-19 positive, former chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Tuesday confirmed he has tested positive for the contagion.

He confirmed the development on his Twitter page.

The Congress leader said he has been admitted to hospital for treatment.

"I have been tested positive for #Covid19 & also been admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors as a precaution," he tweeted.

 

India registers 52,050 new COVID-19 cases, death toll touches 38938

India recorded 52, 050 fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, Ministry of Health said on Tuesday.

With 803 deaths recorded, the death toll due to the highly infectious disease is now 38938.

India's Covid recoveries cross 12 lakh mark, recovery rate 66.31 pc

India's COVID recoveries on Tuesday crossed the 12 lakh mark after the country recorded 44,306 cured/discharged cases with the rate of recovery improving to 66.31 per cent.

So far, 12,30,509 cases have been recovered across the country.

The active case load on the country at present stands at 5,86,298, the government data said.

On the brighter side, the recoveries in India have exceeded the active cases by 6,44,211 on Tuesday.

Total Covid case tally of the nation has now reached 18,55,745.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country has crossed the 18-lakh mark.

There are  579357  active cases in the country at present.

So far, 1186203 people have recovered from the highly infectious disease.

Chinese mainland reports 45 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Chinese health authority said Saturday that it received reports of 45 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Friday, 39 of which were domestically transmitted.

Of the domestically transmitted cases, 31 were reported in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and eight were in Liaoning Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

Vietnam reports 12 new COVID-19 cases in community, 558 in total

Vietnam recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday morning, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 558, according to its Ministry of Health.

The new cases, aged between two and 78, are all community cases with epidemiological history related to the central city of Da Nang, the country's epicenter at the moment, the health ministry said.

108 new cases, tally surges to 2,558 in Varanasi

With 108 more people testing positive for COVID-19, the total number of cases increased to 2,558 in this Uttar Pradesh district on Thursday.

Two more patients succumbed to the contagion in Varanasi.

Official sources said that out of the 475 test results obtained from BHU lab, 108 have tested positive. Out of the total cases, 1,041 have recovered completely.

As two more patients succumbed to the virus, the toll in the district has risen to 51.

As many as 1,466 active coronavirus patients are currently undergoing treatment.

Herd immunity indirect protection from Covid-19, not an option in India: Centre

The Indian Health Ministry on Thursday refused to accept herd immunity as an option to stop the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in a vast country of 1.3 billion people, calling it an "indirect protection" from the contagion.

A Health Ministry official said at a press conference, "Herd immunity is an indirect protection from a disease. This saves a population from a disease. But it develops when a vaccine is developed or when a population has already suffered and recovered from it.

"Herd immunity in India is not an option. It can only happen after a vaccine has been developed."

Stressing on the increase in percentage of recovery rate, the ministry said 16 Indian states or union territories have a recovery rate better than the national average which is 64.44%.

Assam's Covid-19 tally crosses 36,000 mark, toll mounts to 92

Assam on Thursday witnessed a sharp spike in the number of Covid-19 positive cases as the state's overall tally crossed 36,000 mark.

The state has registered 1348 new Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours.

Out of the new cases, 348 cases have been reported from Kamrup (Metro) district while 127 cases detected in Kamrup (Rural) district.

With the new cases, the state's tally has now increased to 36,295.

India, a country of 1.3 billion people, reported 52,123 Covid-19 cases while 775 people succumbed to the disease in 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

With the fresh cases, the overall Covid-19 tally touched 15,83,792.

So far in the country comprising 36 states and union territories, 34,968 people have died.

32,553 people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours while there are 5,28,242 active Novel Coronavirus cases.

Telangana: Surge in COVID-19 positive cases continues

The surge in COVID-19 positive cases in Telangana continues crossing the 50,000-mark and recording a cumulative 54,059 positive cases till 2000 hours on Saturday.

According to a health bulletin issued by the state health department, eight persons had died due to the contagious coronavirus on Saturday taking the total number COVID-19 deaths in the state to 463 so far.

The highest number of positive cases were recorded on Saturday in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits (641), Rangareddy district (171) and Warangal (131).

In all,41,332 patients had been discharged after recovery from various COVID-19 hospitals, while 12,364 patients were undergoing treatment.

the mortality rate (number of people who died due to COVID-19 for every 100 virus-positive cases) is 0.86 in the state as against the countrywide mortality rate of 2.3 per cent.  

West Bengal reports biggest spike in single-day Covid-19 deaths, 2,404 fresh infections

West Bengal on Saturday reported the biggest spike in Covid-19 fatalities as 42 Novel Coronavirus patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.

The West Bengal health department said that Covid-19 toll in the state has mounted to 1,332 with 669 of them being reported from the state capital Kolkata.

The state's Covid tally zoomed past 56,000 as 2,404 new Covid cases were reported on Saturday.

19,391 of the total 56,377 are now active Covid patients in the eastern state, which was under the biweekly lockdown on Saturday.

In a brighter picture, a record number of 2,125 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state in the last 24 hours, taking the number of cured patients to 35,654.

557 more Covid-19 cases recorded in Rajasthan

Rajasthan registered 557 more cases of Novel Coronavirus during the past 24 hours, taking the western state's overall tally to 34,735.

The past day also witnessed death of six more people due to the disease.

As per the Health department, maximum 313 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Alwar, while Jaipur recorded 58 cases, Ajmer 49, Udaipur 10, Bhilwara seven, Banswara and Jhunjhunu recorded five each, while three patients were detected in Dungarpur and two in Dausa.

With the registration of six more deaths, the state's overall toll has reached 608. Sources from the Health Department said the state currently has 9470 active cases.

Covid-19 situation betters in Delhi, national capital now 8th in terms of active cases

Delhi, which is one of the worst Covid-19-affected parts of the country, is slowly recovering from grasp of the contagion as the national capital is now placed at the eighth position in terms of active cases.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday tweeted a tally where Delhi is seen having 12,657 active cases, placing itself behind Gujarat in the table.

With over 2,000 Covid patients recovered in the last 24 hours, 1,13,068 people are now Coronavirus-cured in Delhi.

 

Covid-19 cases reach 90,942 in Karnataka

Karnataka has witnessed another surge of fresh cases of COVID-19 here on Saturday as another highest number of 5072 persons were detected positive for the pandemic, taking the total number of Covid persons in the state to to 90942.

According to official sources, the death toll due to the COVID-19 disease also surged to 1796 as 72 more persons, succumbed to the pandemic on Saturday.

In the last 24-hours Karnataka had also recorded discharge of as many as 2403 COVID-19 patients, declared cured from the pandemic, from various hospitals, across the state.

Haryana registers seven Covid-19 deaths, 783 fresh cases

Haryana recorded seven more Covid deaths and 783 fresh cases on Saturday, raising the death toll to 389 and the infection tally to 30,588.

According to an official health bulletin, the lethal virus claimed three lives in Faridabad district and one life each in Sonipat, Rohtak, Ambala and Jind districts.

The bulletin stated that 198 fresh cases have been reported from Faridabad district, 125 from Rewari, 98 from Gurugram, 56 from Palwal, 51 from Rohtak, 50 each from Sonipat and Panipat, 48 from Hisar, 34 from Mahendergarh, 27 from Ambala, 23 from Panchkula, 18 from Jhajjar, eleven from Jind, eight from Kurukshetra, six from Nuh, four each from Bhiwani, Yamunanagar and Fatehabad, three from Sirsa and one new case from Kaithal district.

India on Thursday reported the biggest single-day spike in Novel Coronavirus cases as 45,720 people across the country of 1.3 billion people were infected with the contagion in the last 24 hours.

The Covid-19 tally of the country touched 12,38,635.

The Covid toll has reached 29,861 as 1,129 deaths were reported between Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Mexico tallies over 40,000 Covid-19 deaths

The total number of global novel Coronavirus cases has increased to over 14.8 million, while the deaths have topped to more than 615,000, on Wednesday.

According to the Johns Hopkins University, the total number of cases stood at 14,898,145, while the fatalities rose to 615,462, the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.

Kochi: 18 nuns of Erumathala provincial house test positive for COVID-19

A total of 18 nuns of Erumathala provincial house in Aluva have tested positive for COVID-19 as they were in the contact list of Sister Claire, who had died of Coronavirus in Vypin on Monday.

The list of persons who were in contact with these nuns have been prepared by the health department, sources said on Tuesday.

Apart from these nuns, Kochi North Excise Circle Inspector also tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Ernakulam market was opened on Tuesday with strict restrictions, after 20 days. The shops will function at different times.

The situation in Kochi is worsening day-by-day as the number of COVID cases through contact increased.

Out of the 72 Coronavirus positive cases reported on Monday, 62 had infected the virus through contact. Besides, 24 of them were health workers.  

With 1,093 new cases, Assam Covid-19 tally crosses 25,000-mark

The state's Covid tally has now surged to 25,092.

With over 40,000 registered in a single-day, the number of fresh COVID-19 cases in India now stands at 1118042.

India recorded 40,425 cases in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health data revealed.

The death toll due to the disease is currently 27497.

Number of active cases in the country is currently 390459.

The number of recovered persons from the disease is 700086.

Maharashtra fights COVID-19: Lockdown in Thane Dist selectively extended till July 31

The ongoing lockdown in the district (excluding the Corporation limits), which was in force till Sunday night, has now been extended selectively up to July 31, an order issued by district collector Rajesh Narvekar said.

The order stated that this lockdown will be applicable for the containment zones and to those containment zones which will get added to it subsequently.
