The Israel Defense Forces has said it has hit a Hezbollah target in southern Lebanon after an apparent drone was intercepted on Friday.

Israeli drones, artillery, and tanks struck targets in Lebanon on Friday after an apparent drone was intercepted, shots were fired at a number of military posts on the northern frontier and an explosion damaged the border security barrier, the Israel Defense Forces told The Times of Israel.

The incident remained the latest skirmish recorded along the Lebanese border amid fears that the Lebanon-based Hezbollah terror group may open a second front amid the ongoing clash against Hamas.

Humanitarians call for urgent aid access to Gaza

No aid can come in from the outside for the 2.3 million residents of the sealed-off enclave, and some 220,000 displaced people are sheltering in schools run by the UN agency for Palestine refugees, UNRWA.

Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks touched 1,569: Health Ministry

The death toll from Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip and West Bank has touched 1,569, while 7,212 others were wounded, according to the Ramallah-based Palestinian Health Ministry.

The ministry said in a statement that the number of fatalities in Gaza has reached 1,537, including 500 children and 276 women.

Israel on Thursday continued its airstrikes on various areas of Gaza in response to a large-scale surprise attack launched by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Saturday.

Israel's public broadcaster Kan said the death toll from the Hamas attack in Israel has so far risen to over 1,300.

1,600 Australians register for repatriation from Israel, Palestine: PM Albanese

The Australian government has been working to repatriate Australian citizens stranded in Israel, Gaza and the West Bank.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Friday said that an extraordinary logistical exercise is underway to get 1,600 Australians in the region who have registered for government-assisted repatriation.

The government has organized two free flights operated by the country's flag carrier Qantas from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport, the first of which will depart on Friday with more than 200 passengers on board, and has chartered a third flight.

Continuous Israeli strikes knock down two Syrian airports

Syria's two main airports in the capital Damascus and northern city Aleppo, which were under control of the war-torn country became out of service on Thursday as the result of Israeli strikes, state media reports. Causing frequent grounding of the flights, the "simultaneous" strikes "damaged landing strips in the two airports, putting them out of service", state media reported citing an unidentified military source, as per AFP.

340,000 Palestinians displaced by Hamas-Israel conflict

At least 340,000 Palestinians have been displaced since the beginning of the ongoing Hamas-Israel conflict days ago, according to a UN agency. In a press statement sent to Xinhua, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said "218,600 internally displaced persons now reside in 92 schools affiliated with the UN agency in various areas of the Gaza Strip."

Operation Ajay's first flight to bring back 230 Indians from Israel, Jaishankar monitors evacuation mission

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is monitoring Operation Ajay, the evacuation mission launched by India to rescue its nationals from war-torn Israel.

Special flights and other arrangements have been made to evacuate the nationals.

The first Operation Ajay flight, which will carry 230 Indians, is ready to leave Israel on Thursday night.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told reporters, "A charter flight will reach Tel Aviv today later in the evening. It is expected to get 230 passengers onboard. We have all options, but the role of IAF can't be ruled out."

Israel destroys 752 residential buildings in Gaza

Israel destroyed about 752 residential buildings in its airstrikes on Gaza since Saturday, a Palestinian official said Thursday.

In a press statement sent to Xinhua, Salama Maarouf, the head of the Hamas-run government media office, said 42 government headquarters and dozens of public facilities and establishments were also destroyed.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Israel and Jordan from October 11-13 in a show of support for the Jewish state amid its escalating war with Hamas.

The secretary is expected to arrive in Israel on Thursday. In both countries, the top US diplomat will meet with senior officials to discuss measures to bolster Israel’s security and underscore the US's unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself, according to the State Department.

Blinken told reporters before boarding a plane Wednesday that he plans to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, and other senior officials, and is looking forward to seeing US embassy teams in the country.

Gaza Health Ministry says overnight Israeli airstrikes left 51 people dead

Hamas-run health ministry has claimed Israel's overnight airstrikes have left 51 people dead and  281 hurt.

Israel says it is targeting Hamas in response to the latter’s onslaught over the weekend that left over 1,200 Israelis dead and is aiming to completely eliminate the terror group, reports The Times of Israel.

Over a tenth of the population in Gaza, more than 260,000 people, have been displaced since the start of the current conflict on 7 October and the numbers are rising fast.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has voiced grave concern over the escalating conflict in Israel and Gaza and stressed the need to prevent the violence from spreading into the wider region.

The UN chief raised alarm over clashes along the Blue Line, the demarcation between Israel and Lebanon, as well as reported attacks from southern Lebanon.

“I appeal to all parties – and those who have an influence over those parties – to avoid any further escalation and spillover,” he told reporters at the UN Headquarters, in New York.

Release Israeli hostages in Gaza

Guterres reiterated the need to always protect civilians, as guaranteed by international law.

“I call for the immediate release of all Israeli hostages held in Gaza,” he said.

The death toll of Palestinians from the ongoing Israeli airstrikes has reached 1,100, the Health Ministry in Gaza said in a statement on Wednesday.

The airstrikes were carried out in response to a large-scale surprise attack launched by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Saturday.

"About 5,339 Palestinians, including 1,217 children and 744 women, were wounded by the (Israeli) army," the statement added.

Gaza has lost all means of electricity after the only power station in the Palestinian enclave ran out of fuel and had to shut down, media reports said Wednesday evening. People in the Gaza Strip will have to rely on generators now if they have enough diesel to run them. With no electricity, Gaza will be soon running out of water or operational elevators, and people won't be able to charge mobile phones.

First US plane carrying ammunition arrives in Israel

The first American aircraft carrying ammunition arrived in Israel on Tuesday night to help the country in its ongoing conflict with Gaza's ruling faction, Hamas, and militants in Lebanon, Israel's military said.

The plane landed at the Nevatim Airbase in Israel's southern Negev Desert, carrying "advanced ammunition," Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson Daniel Hagari said in a statement.

Also on Tuesday, the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group arrived in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea "in order to deter any actor seeking to escalate the situation or widen this war," the U.S. Central Command said in a statement.

Israeli airstrikes kill two Hamas political office members

Israeli airstrikes in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip killed two members from Hamas's political office, Jawad Abu Shammala and Zakaria Abu Maamar, Al Arabiya reported on Tuesday.

In separate statements, the Israeli military confirmed killing Abu Shammala and Abu Maamar, saying they had been struck overnight, reports Reuters.

Israel-Palestine: UN urges parties to spare civilian lives

In Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, all parties must stop targeting civilians and Hamas and other armed groups must immediately release their hostages, UN rights chief Volker Türk said on Tuesday.

The High Commissioner said that he was “deeply shocked and appalled by allegations of summary executions of civilians, and, in some instances, horrifying mass killings by members of Palestinian armed groups”.

"It is horrific and deeply distressing to see images of those captured by Palestinian armed groups being ill-treated, as well as reports of killings and the desecration of their bodies. Civilians must never be used as bargaining chips," he insisted.

Toll from Hamas surprise attack hits 1,008 in Israel

At least 1,008 individuals have been killed in Israel since Hamas militants crossed into the country in a surprise attack on Saturday, state-owned Kan TV news reported Tuesday.

A total of 2,741 injured people were treated in Israeli hospitals since Saturday, including 25 who were in critical condition. Most of them have been discharged, with 544 injured people still in hospitals, it said.

A total of 4,949 rockets have been launched at Israel since Saturday, it added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India is firmly standing with Israel in its hour of crisis following a phone call by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid the raging conflict between Israel and Palestine after a surprise attack by Hamas triggered a war in the region.

"I thank Prime Minister @netanyahu for his phone call and providing an update on the ongoing situation. People of India stand firmly with Israel in this difficult hour. India strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," PM Modi posted on his X handle.

Turkey ready to mediate in Israeli-Palestinian war

Turkey has informed Israel and Palestine via diplomatic channels about its readiness to mediate in the conflict, including by organizing a meeting of the two countries' leaders, a diplomatic source in Ankara told Sputnik.

"Just yesterday Mr President [Recep Tayyip Erdogan] held phone talks with both leaders [of Israel and Palestine]. I can say those were very constructive talks.

"Mr President called on both sides to ceasefire and restore negotiations. Meanwhile, via diplomatic channels, Ankara informed both parties of its readiness to mediate in any possible way, including by organizing a meeting of the leaders," the source said.

Benjamin Netanyahu says Hamas is ISIS, vows to defeat the group

Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu gave a strong message to the worls when he equated the Hamas group with ISIS and vowed that his country would defeat the 'terrorists'.

“We are in an operation for our home, a war to ensure our existence, a war that we will win," the PM said in a televised address to the nation on Monday.

“This war was imposed upon us by a despicable enemy — by savages who celebrate the murder of women, children, and the elderly,” he said. “The atrocities carried out by Hamas have not been seen since the atrocities of ISIS. Children bound and executed with the rest of their families, young girls and boys shot in the back, executed, and other atrocities that I will not describe here.”

Hamas group warns it will begin executing hostages in response to strikes

The Hamas group members have warned it will execute hostages in response to Israeli strikes in Gaza.

The announcement was made by Hamas spokesperson Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades was quoted as saying by  Gaza’s Shehab news outlet, reported The Times of Israel.

After two days of rocket strikes, the Israeli army Monday said it has regained control of southern areas near the Gaza Strip which was taken over by Hamas on Saturday.

"We are in control of the communities," military spokesman Daniel Hagari told the media.
