India registers over 65,000 cases in 24 hours, tally crosses 2.5 million

Even in the middle of Unlock 3.0, India on Saturday continued to register a huge number of Novel Coronavirus cases by adding over 65,000 infections in the last 24 hours.

The country of 1.3 billion people added fresh 65,002 Covid-19 cases, taking the overall tally to 25,26,193.

The Covid toll touched 49,036 with the reporting of 996 fresh fatalities in the span of 24 hours between Friday and Saturday mornings, the Indian Health Ministry's data said.

Covid-19 cases in Nashik cross 22K

With the detection of 646 new corona positive patients here in a single day on Thursday, the district's tally climbed to 22,485.

Among the fresh cases, 334 were from Nashik city, 196 from Nashik Rural, 113 from Malegaon and 3 outsiders, a report of the district administration said here.

The Covid-19 today claimed 20 lives across the district, including 10 in Nashik city, 8 in Nashik Rural and 2 in Malegaon.

While, 571 patients were discharged in a single day today across the district.

Of total 22,485 positive patients in the district, 668 have died and 16,953 have been recovered so far.

Now there are 4,864 active cases across the district, the report added.

Marathawada reports 1115 fresh COVID cases , Region tally mounted to 37000

At least 1115 positive cases of corona virus were reported across the eight districts of Marathwada region in last 24 hours.

While 41 fatalities were also reported in the eight districts till late Thursday late night,said sources .

With this, the total number of fatalities reached 1191 in these districts, while COVID-19 tally in the region mounted to 37,291.

Aurangabad's COVID-19 tally spikes to 18,081

At least 114 fresh COVID-19 cases were recorded here on Friday morning that has brought the district's tally to 18,081.

Of the fresh cases, 58 from Aurangabad Municipal Corporation area and 56 from rural parts of the district, health department sources said.

So far 13,254 cured patients have been discharged while 572 have lost their lives.

India records 1007 COVID-19 deaths in past 24 hours

India has recorded over 1000 deaths due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll due to the disease to 48040, officials said.

As per Ministry of Health website, the country has registered 64,553 fresh Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours. 

So far, there are 661595 active cases.

The total number of recovered patients in the country is now 17,51,555.

Assam records biggest single-day spike with 4,593 Covid-19 cases, tally surges to 68,999

Assam has recorded the biggest single-day spike in the number of Covid-19 positive cases as the state has registered 4593 positive cases for the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.

Out of the new cases, 632 cases have been detected in Kamrup (M) district, 460 cases in Kamrup (R) district, 335 cases in Nagaon district, 265 cases in Dibrugarh district.

With the new cases, the state tally has now surged to 68,999.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state has tested 1,43,109 samples for the novel Coronavirus in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate is 3.20 percent.

India registers biggest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases, records close to 67,000 fresh infections

India, one of the worst Covid-19-affected countries in the world, on Thursday registered the biggest single-day spike in Novel Coronavirus cases by adding almost 67,000 fresh infections in the last 24 hours.

The country reported 66,999 cases including 942 fatalities in 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings, taking the Covid tally to nearly 2.4 million.

While 6,53,622 Covid patients are under medical treatment in various health facilities across the country, 16,95,982 have been discharged since the first infection was reported in late January.

India reports over 60,000 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, tally crosses 2.32 million

With over 60,000 fresh infections reported in the last 24 hours, India's Covid-19 tally crossed 2.32 million on Wednesday.

As per the data of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 60,963 Covid cases including 834 deaths were reported in the vast South Asian country of 1.3 billion people in 24 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

India's recovery rate has further improved to 70.37% as 16,39,599 people, including 56,110 in the last 24 hours, have so far been recovered from the deadly disease.

As per the Health Ministry,  6,43,948 Covid patients are still present in different medical facilities across the country.

India will win if 10 states defeat Coronavirus: PM Modi to CMs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India, the country of 1.3 billion people, will defeat Novel Coronavirus if the 10 worst Covid-19-affected states tackle the contagion successfully.

"A view has emerged that if we defeat coronavirus in 10 states, the nation will also win," Modi said in a virtual meeting with Chief Ministers of 10 states.

The 10 states include Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and West Bengal.

Russia registers world's 'first' COVID-19 vaccine; Putin's daughter gets inoculated

Russia has become the first country in the world to register a vaccine against COVID-19, President Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday. 

The first COVID-19 vaccine to get registered was developed jointly by the Moscow-based Gamaleya Research Institute and the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Russian president also revealed that one of his daughters had been vaccinated against the coronavirus, Sputnik reported.

However, the vaccine will go into civilian circulation on 1 January 2021, according to the registration certificate, Sputnik said in its report.

Beijing reports no new COVID-19 cases

No new locally-transmitted confirmed, asymptomatic, or suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in Beijing on Monday, the municipal health commission said Tuesday.

The city also reported no new imported confirmed, asymptomatic, or suspected cases on Monday, according to the commission.

New Zealand reports one new case of COVID-19

New Zealand reported one new case of COVID-19 on Tuesday, with the number of active cases in the country being 22, all in managed isolation or quarantine facilities, according to the Ministry of Health.

It has been 102 days since the last case of COVID-19 was acquired locally from an unknown source, according to the ministry.

Tuesday's case was a man in his 20s who arrived in New Zealand on July 30 from Melbourne, Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield told a press conference.

Chinese mainland reports 44 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Chinese health authority said Tuesday that it received reports of 44 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Monday, including 31 imported cases and 13 locally-transmitted ones.

All the 13 locally-transmitted cases were reported in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

India records 53601 COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

India has recorded 53,601 fresh cases of coronavirus or COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health reported.

The total number of cases have now touched  22,68,676.

The country has recorded 871 fresh COVID-19 deaths in the same one-day period.

The death toll due to the highly infectious disease is now 45257.

Former President Pranab Mukherjee tests positive for Covid-19

Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday informed that he has tested positive for Novel Coronavirus or Covid-19.

Mukherjee in a tweet asked all people who came in contact with him to self-isolate and get tested for Covid-19.

He tweeted, "On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19."

 

Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu tests positive for coronavirus

Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister B Sriramulu on Sunday said that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

He took to twitter and said that he had undergone the COVID-19 test after suffering mild fever.

The minister has been admitted to the state-run Bowring Hospital.

India reports over 62,000 Covid-19 cases, more than 1,000 fatalities in 24 hours

India, the worst Novel Coronavirus-affected Asian country, has reported over 62,000 Covid-19 cases besides 1,007 deaths due to the contagion in a span of 24 hours between Sunday and Monday mornings.

With 62,064 new cases, India's Covid-19 tally touched 22,15,075 while 44,386 people have so far succumbed to the virus, as per the data of the country's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

While 15,35,743 Covid patients including 54,859 in the last 24 hours have been discharged from medical facilities across the country, India still has 6,34,945 active Coronavirus patients.

Erdogan says Turkey becomes 3rd to develop COVID-19 vaccines

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that Turkey has become the third country to develop vaccines locally against COVID-19 after the United States and China according to the World Health Organization.

"The COVID-19 Turkey Platform, founded by the TUBITAK (the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey,) is currently working on eight different vaccines and 10 different medication projects," Erdogan said at the opening ceremony of the TUBITAK Excellence Centers in the northwestern province of Kocaeli.

Xinjiang reports 14 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reported 14 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, all in the regional capital Urumqi, the regional health commission said Monday in its daily report.

The region also saw seven new asymptomatic cases in Urumqi Sunday.

By Sunday, Xinjiang had 592 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 123 asymptomatic cases, and 16,947 people were still under medical observation.

From July 15 to Sunday, a total of 185 people were discharged from the hospital after recovery, and another 78 asymptomatic cases were dismissed from medical observation in Xinjiang.
