Young technocrat runs in marathon to support child rights

Kolkata, Dec 21 (IBNS): A young technocrat from Gurgaon flew down to Kolkata to run for a cause as he participated in the Tata Steel Kolkata Marathon (TSK 25K) in the city on Sunday.

Abhishek Arya joined several other people in the city who participated in  the rally but he  was here to support CRY – Child Rights and You.

While running to support the cause with children, he also raise funds for CRY.

Speaking on participating in the event, Arya, who works for Google India, told IBNS: "Ideally, I would love to run outdoors. But, it is difficult to do so as we are running to meet our deadlines moat of the time. The gym is a good alternative. I have been jogging on the treadmill along with cycling and using the cross trainer for more than the past 2 months. Gradually clocking upto 10 kms per run. Over the years I have realized that it is important to strengthen your lower body to endure the long distance run. As a result, I have been doing a few basic leg exercises over the past few weeks."

He said it was a  good oppurtunity for him to run for the CRY.

"It's a great honor. There's no better feeling than to mix your passion with an opportunity to extend a helping hand," .Abhishek Arya said.

Elaborating his future plans to contribute to CRY, he said: "Every small action that we do has the potential to spark off a big change. I can't promise how committed I will be in the future. But, I will definitely spread the word, and be on the lookout to help at any given opportunity."

CRY welcomed Abhishek's action and said it hopes it will inspire many others to stand up for child rights.

Atindranath Das, Regional Director CRY East said. “Abhishek is one big example of the fact that how an individual can rise to the occasion and contribute meaningfully to a larger dream. That he came all the way fropm Delhi to Kolkata just to take part in the 25 kms run and dedicated it to the underprivileged children, shows that the new generation is getting more empathetic day by day, on issues related to child rights, and is coming forward big time to champion the cause. We do hope that Abhishek’s efforts would inspire many others to stand up for child rights.”
