New York, Nov 24 (IBNS) Satyajit Dattagupta, a former admissions executive at the University of Rochester having a strong background in computer science and data analysis, has joined Washington Collegeas as their new Vice President for Enrollment Management.

He succeeded Kevin Coveney, who stepped down after 30 successful years.

For the first time—in its 232 year old history—Washington College welcomed an Indian to serve the institution at such a senior level.

Washington College’s Search Committee was especially impressed with Dattagupta’s impeccable understanding of how cutting-edge technology could be used to promote the College and reach prospective students and their families.

“Enrollment management is a marriage of the science of numbers and the art of recruiting,” he said.

He said, “And I am excited about applying my expertise and experience in both those areas at Washington College.”

Earlier at the University of Rochester, Dattagupta served as the Executive Director of the Office of College Enrollment, leading a team of 14 employees in planning and executing communications, marketing and technology strategies for university admissions.

His innovative strategies helped Rochester create a 25 percent increase in applications over three years, with desired results. And now at Washington College he has surpassed the target enrolment.

Dattagupta’s previous positions include two years at DePauw University as Associate Director of Admission and Coordinator of Information Technology, and two years as a Project Manager and Web Analyst for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, the governing body for 31 schools operating in 47 communities.

Recently, Dattagupta received the “Graduate of the Last Decade” award from his alma mater, Southwestern Minnesota State University.

Dattagupta was recognized at a special luncheon during homecoming at the university.

The award is presented to an individual who has distinguished himself or herself in the decade since graduating. Dattagupta’s gold  award recognizes his accomplishments in the area of higher-education admissions.
