Utpal Baruah's two books unveiled in Guwahati

Guwahati, Oct 18 (IBNS) : Two books related to the Assamese society wrote by journalist and Executive Editor of Assamese news daily Dainik Janambhumi Utpal Baruah was unveiled in Guwahati on Sunday.

In a function held at Rabindra Bhawan, the books “Axomiya Jatir Bhabiswat” (Future of Assamese community) and “Alimuror Kekuri” were inaugurated by former president of Axom Sahitya Sabha Dr Nagen Saikia.

“The Assamese community has faced problem for their identity due immigration, linguistic problem. The census report of 2011 revealed that, 11 districts of the state now turned to muslim dominated districts. The Assamese speakers had gradually decreased in the state,” Utpal Baruah said.

Writer Dr Lakshminandan Bora, Phanidra Kumar Dev Choudhury, Director of National Book Trust Dr Rita Choudhury, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Education minister Sarat Borkotoky, proprietor of Dainik Janambhumi Subrato Sarma and few persons of civil societies were also present in the book inaugural function.
