Kolkata/IBNS: A musical programme on the theme of ‘Peace & Harmony’ was recently organised in the city under the aegis of Rhythm Express, Global Art Presenter (Kolkata) and Kalyani Roy Memorial Trust.

First to perform was Ashish Chatterjee who presented a range of devotional songs, including popular numbers such as ‘amay ektu jayga dao, mayer mondire bosi’ snf ‘khelicho e biswa loye’.

This was followed by ‘The Art of Percussion’ by 'tabla' artist Pandit Prodyut Mukherjee.

Pandit Mukherjee also used his skills to present sound effects on the ‘tabla’, such as movement of two trains side by side on a track, sound of the conch, the wind blowing, etc.

The evening ended with a ‘sitar’ performance by Pandit Partha Bose.

Bose and Mukherjee presented a duet performance as a tribute to the spring season.

Their presentation titled ‘shanti dwani’ was based on ‘raga gaoti’, ‘dhun’ based on ‘raga mishra pilu’.

Said Pandit Mukherjee, "‘Peace & Harmony’ serves as a testament to the unifying power of music and art. Each artist brought a unique perspective, yet together, they created a harmonious tapestry of sound and emotion.
