P.C Chandra Jewellers partners with Shiboprosad-Nandita, for their next four ventures

Kolkata, Mar 24 (IBNS): P.C Chandra Jewellers has become the presenting partner of the upcoming four films of Windows Production, owned by director duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, whose recent series of films -- Belaseshe, Prakton, Posto, and Projapati Biskut - have met with box office success.
The official announcement of the partnership was made on Thursday at the Maple Banquets of P.C Chandra Garden in Kolkata.

Manojder Adhbhut Bari (directed by Anindya Chatterjee), Rassagolla (directed by Pavel) Haami and Kantho (both directed by Shiboprosad-Nandita duo) are the films to be presented through this association.

Windows Production expects to release the four films this year.

The films largely deal with contemporary society and situations therein.

Manojder Adbhut Bari is based on a story written by noted Bengali litterateur Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay.

Rassogolla deals with human relationships, Kontho portrays the life of a larynx cancer survivor and Haami focuses on children.

Talking about the association, Prasanto Chandra of P.C. Chandra Group said, "We have no intention of getting into film production, our aim is to reach out to the niche market of Bengali movie through this partnership."

The director duo said that this corporate tie up will not hamper the quality of the films they produce and that they will not compromise with it.

Apart from Shiboprasad-Nandita, Prasanto Chandra, director Pavel and Anindya Chatterjee, others present included well-known actors Debolina Dutta, Paoli Dam, Jaya Ahsan, Devlina Kumar, Rajatava Dutta, Churni Ganguly, debutant Ujaan Ganguly  and child actors Broto Banerjee and Tiyasha Paul, who will be part of these films.

In a conversation with IBNS, Rajatava Dutta said, "This is a unique initiative whereby Bengali cinema will benefit ultimately."

This is one of the first such occasions where a partnership has been made solely on thematic grounds, the organizers said.

But director Shiboprosad replied frankly when IBNS asked him if the partnership will go beyond the four films. “It is the honeymoon period which is always beautiful, whether or not the bonding will stay depends on the success of these films,” he replied.

The event was followed by a cake cutting ceremony where all the cast and crew present joined to mark the beginning of this initiative.
