Pandit Girish Chatterjee spreading the magic of Indian classical music across the globe

Kolkata, Oct 27 (IBNS): Pandit Girish Chatterjee is a globally acclaimed Indian classical vocalist of the Kirana Gharana who started his musical journey at the tender age of nine.

A child prodigy, he received a scholarship from the Sangeet Research Academy, where he later on became a research scholar.

His father Sangeet Acharya Pandit Tarakeshwar Chatterjee was an  icon of Kirana Gharana.

Pandit Girish Chatterjee is the direct disciple of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

Chatterjee was only14 years when he was invited by Pandit Bhimsen Joshi to perform along with him on stage at the Malknus Samaroh Festival in Kolkata.

Pandit Girish Chatterjee had composed and sang "Mora Sayian Bedardi" for the Bollywood film  "Mirch" which was nominated at the Indian National Award.

He created Raga Anjani Kalyan and many more, and composed more than 50 compositions in different Ragas.

He has more than 40 CDs released from different companies in India. 

Prersently, he is based in the United States and continues to spread the magic of Indian classical music among his students, both Indian and American.
