Oxford University Press India unveils 8 new titles for CU

Kolkata, Aug 18 (IBNS): Oxford University Press India unveils eight new titles for B Com courses as per CBCS syllabus 2017 for the University of Calcutta.

The textbooks for B.Com (General and Honours) courses have been specially designed to adhere to the new six-semester three-year 2017 course syllabus under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

University-specific B Com titles are a first for OUP-I and these eight titles have been specifically designed for the University of Calcutta.

With this launch, OUP India has marked itself as an entrant in the domain of customized B Com titles, keeping up with OUP’s commitment to continuous development of its publishing programme to meet the growing and varying learning needs of students and teachers in the region.

The CBCS curriculum will come into effect from the 2017-18 session, after a period of six years with the last syllabus change having taken place in the academic year 2010-11.

All eight new titles – Financial Accounting 1, Business Laws, Principals of Management, Microeconomics I and Statistics for First Year, and Indian Financial System, Auditing, Information Technology and its Applications in Business and Economics II and Advance Business Mathematics for Second Year are listed as recommended reading in the syllabus. Apart from the new books, another ten OUP titles on Marketing Management; Technical Communication, Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics, Marketing Research, Services Marketing and Human Resource Management are listed in the essential reading list.

The Press has four additional B. Com titles in the pipeline, namely - Cost and Management Accounting 1, Company Law, E-commerce and Business Communication, Business Mathematics and Statistics.

Since 2009, OUP India has played a pivotal role in developing high quality customized course material according to specific requirements of various universities for B. Tech, and from 1995 onwards for undergraduate anthology courses.


Till date OUP India has published 39 first-year engineering textbooks for 8 major technological universities and 26 anthologies for 11 universities.
