LFW: Karn Malhotra presents “Siren Squad” collection

Mumbai, Apr 3 (IBNS): The “Siren Squad” by Karn Malhotra at Stage One during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 featured an eclectic mix of clothing that delighted the audience with its boldness and vibrancy. What caught their attention was the effortlessness with which they could be worn; both before the sun goes down and after it.

Inspired by global mainstream popular culture, the collection reflected facets of mainstream music, cinema and street style of the modern times. The designer channelized the jazz of the 20’s and the glam of the 80’s to lend a New Age yet classic appeal to the overall look. The use of feminine silhouettes, blended with modern androgyny was eye-catching. The colour palette consisted of a neutral base of white and black, with brighter shades of summer incorporated into it.

Many elements such as colour blocking, optical stripes and mesh accentuated with buckles, clasps and studs enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the designs. While metal added an edgy feel, the sequins gave the collection its glamour quotient.

The collection was dominated by a number of interesting one-piece and two-piece looks. A black mesh bodysuit featured cut-out details teamed with a striped sequined double-breasted jacket. A crépe bodysuit, with a cape and flared bottom, looked breezy.

The beautiful Amy Jackson, from the hit movie “Singh is Bling” looked gorgeous as she closed the show wearing a white, flared full length skirt with a thigh-high slit, teamed with a full-sleeved monochrome body-con sequinned striped top.

The “Siren Squad” by Karn Malhotra showcased fearlessness with a young and vibrant edge for the bold, independent woman of today.
