LFW 2016: High tech digital electronic fashion fantasy unleashed by ElektroCouture and Friends

 ELEKTROCOUTURE

Glowing prét-a-porter designs from ElektroCouture by Lisa Lang, the driving force behind the show was the world’s first ready-to-wear fashion technology brand established in 2014 from interactive wearable sensor technology, laser cut necklaces, knitted garments that glowed. 
 

LINA WASSONG

Lina Wassong, the Los Angeles trained designer who studied clothing engineering in Hamburg brought on the ramp her amazing Equalizer Skirt that fitted perfectly into the futuristic norms of style. When turned on, the skirt was an interactive piece of clothing – reacting to the waves of sounds. The integrated LEDs were arranged as equalizer bars to highlight the sound-reactive behaviour.

ALIENOLOGY

Alienology, by Igor Knezevic, the Los Angeles based design studio’s jewellery presented its New Age Designs that set the ramp aglow. The “Clothoid hat” was created by a mathematical curve formula in parametric CAD software. Resulting digital was adjustable in almost infinite number of combinations in real-time and chosen design was solidified in its 3D printed form.

The line of necklaces was designed entirely digitally in 3D CGI software using only thin lines as main building blocks of 3D form, as a progression in design process.

MOON BERLIN

Started in 2010 by Christian Bruns, Moon Berlin is known for its men’s and women’s collections along with handbags, heated coats, illuminated business and evening wear, jewellery and scarves, which created a lot of techno glamour on the catwalk. 

MELISSA COLEMAN

The Melissa Coleman brand from London specialises in E-textiles and creative technology. The designer is known globally for the Holy Dress, which punished the wearer through an electronic shock when a lie is told and it lights up while one walks and glows with intensity as the lie increases. The electronic lace collar used digital fashion to raise awareness. Similar to ribbons or charity wristbands, it used a simple message - one white light- to visualise the loss of a human life. It honoured the women who die before the age of 18 while giving birth.

SENSOREE

The brand Sensoree worked with futuristic fabrics made from sustainable materials embedded with sensitive Techno touches and had several innovative techno-fashion items. Started by Kristin Neidlinger it was a future concept of designer wearable computers, which could be therapeutic. The specialities that the brand is known for are The Mood Sweater with a high collar that had LED lights.

3LECTROMODE

3lectromode by Valérie Lamontagne, the techno fashion label from Montreal, Canada had several interesting fashion concepts started with Ilinx a performance environment device. Strokes & Dots was a women’s wear micro collection having a series of embroidered LEDs motions or light sensors and made of digitally printed silk textiles. Strokes & Dots was part of a micro-collection inspired by early Modernist representations of speed, graphic design, abstract art and technology—as well as the printwork of Russian/French textile visionary Sonia Delaunay. The designs had a series of embroidered LEDs and a motion or light sensor, transforming the rhythm and illumination of the LEDs in tandem with the wearer’s movements, or by reacting to immediate environmental light fluctuations. The garments were made of digitally printed silk textiles, electronic hardware, and hand-embroidered hard and soft circuits. The designs can be bought as DIY kits or as finished garments. The electronics are coin cell battery operated.


To match the electronic spark of the collections, the footwear was by Steve Madden.
