Kolkata: Walk the winter in cotton says Bengal Fashion Expo 2017
The first edition of the fashion show was held at the ITC Sonar, where it showcased 'Walk the winter in cotton'. a theme conceptualised by Dr Rupali Basu, President & CEO ER of Apollo Hospitals group, India and director of The Bengal Fashion Expo
Sutanu Ghosh , President, Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, “The Bengal Fashion Expo, Walk the winter in cotton, focused on developing textiles with special attention on fabrics like cotton.”
Leading designers from Kolkata, including Agnimitra Paul, Nandita Raja, Abhisek Ray, Sharbari Dutta, Sayantan Sarkar, Pranay Baidya and Shamlu Dudeja, showcased their designs which were in line with the theme of not putting away cottons in winter.
Associate partners Swarnali Kanjilal of Adi Mohini Mohan Kanjilal and Keya Seth of Keya Seth Exclusive concluded the show by displaying their own designs.
Dr Rupali Basu said, ““The Bengal Fashion Expo represents our innate belief in the potential of the cotton textile and apparels industry in Eastern India – which has been the traditional mainstay of millions of artisans and craftsmen of the region over the ages. Our idea is to create a platform for showcasing the best designs of Eastern India based on the theme of cotton as a fabric of choice in winter. We look forward to continuing this as a signature event in the coming years. We hope that the initiative would help restore our state to its rightful place on the national scene.”
