Kolkata gets ready to witness vintage and classic car rally tomorrow

Kolkata/IBNS: Kolkata is all set to witness a vintage and classic car rally on Sunday.

The rally was announced by Madan Mitra, president, Automobile Association of Eastern India (AAEI) here.

More than 50 vintage cars are expected to participate in the rally that would be flagged off from Eastern Metropolitan Club, Kolkata on 5th instant at 8:30 am.

A few vintage bikes will be on display too. The 21.6 km route would cover stretches of South Kolkata including Ruby Crossing, Gariahat, Deshapriya Park, Sarat Bose Road, Southern Avenue, Dhakuria, Jadavpur etc finally ending at the  Eastern Metropolitan Club.

The prize distribution ceremony will be held at 7 pm. Cars from 1913- 1964 will participate in the rally.

The star attraction of the rally would be a 1906 Renault car with wooden wheels and kerosene lamps - one of the oldest cars of the country. 

Madan Mitra, who is also the former West Bengal Minister, said, "We are looking forward for important vintages to carry various sports flags under Bengal association like Bengal boxing."
