Kolkata college conducts workshop on media literacy

Kolkata, Dec 4 (IBNS) : Kolkata's Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College and its Department of Journalism and Mass communication along with Peace Gong hosted a workshop on media literacy and training programme at the college auditorium on Wednesday.

 The workshop had its eyes fixed on the issue of developing the practice of journalism amongst the school going children.

Peace Gong is  a newspaper run by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore foundation has been working in this field for quite some time long with other issues like child labour, corporal punishment, child marriage and sexual harassment.
Dr. Pushpitaranjan Bhattacharya, Principal, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College, highlighted the need for studying journalism in today’s world.

The workshop was attended by  Dr Indrani Raha, Head, Department of Journalism and Mass communication, Muralidhar Girls college, Dr. Biplab Loho Choudhury, Professor, Viswa Bharati University and trustee of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore Foundation, Dr. Sonarekha Chattopadhyay, Head of the Department, Journalism and Mass communication Department, Vidyasagar College),  among others.


Students from four schools - Patha Bhavan, West Barisha Kamala Vidyamandir, Paschim Putiary Sukhoranjan Vidyamandir and Jadavpur Vijaygarh Shikha Niketan- attended the workshop.
