Kolkata/IBNS: Actress and theatre personality Kheyali Dastidar has come up with a Bengali play titled as Pratyasha which weaves a compelling story of the mismatch of expectations in the present day's busy urban life.

It features a star cast comprising actors Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Kaushiki Guha, Ramaditya Ray, Kheyali Dastidar, Rahul Dev Bose and Anusha Viswanathan.

The play will be seeing well-known elocutionist Bratati Bandyopadhyay take the stage for the first time as she debuts as a theatre actor. Popular singer Lopamudra Mitra will also be making her debut as a music director.

On the occasion, the original script of Pratyasha, written by celebrated thespian Chandra Dastidar, was put on display, which had won an award for best Bengali Drama from the Paschim Banga Natya Academy.

Gameplan Sports Pvt Ltd, hitherto known for managing sports events and representing sportspersons and organizing literatures festivals will be making its foray into theatre production.

Speaking on the occasion, Kheyali Dastidar, Director, Pratyasha, said, “I chose Pratyasha because it is the story of a single mother, a lonely daughter, an estranged husband, an ambitious son written by the late Chandra Dastidar in the year 1989. It was a play ahead of its time, and is still relevant. It is a tribute to womanhood and to my parents Chandra and Jochchon Dastidar.”

Speaking on the occasion, Malavika Banerjee, Director, Gameplan Sports, said, “Kheyali Dastidar’s Pratyasha is a thought provoking rendition of family ties and how relationships evolve over time. The rewritten script of Pratyasha is spread across San Francisco; Kolkata and Shantiniketan. It centers around a separated couple and their son and daughter.”

Pratyasha will be staged at G.D Birla Sabhagar on Nov 23 and Dec 13 at 7 pm.

Theater lovers can book their tickets online at BookMyShow or purchase them from Byloom cafe or G.D. Birla Sabhagar on show days.
