IGNCA Kaladarsana division brings Lithuanian music to Delhi, also holds centenary birth anniversary of artist Amarnath Sehgal

IGNCA Kaladarsana division, in collaboration with Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection, was observing the Centenary Birth Anniversary of the noted artist, Padma Bhushan Amar Nath Sehgal.

The symposium titled “The Assembly of a Creative Process- Amar Nath Sehgal” concluded with a small film titled “The Delhi Story” highlighting Sehgal’s relationship with the city.

The symposium, which was held in the morning, was headed by Prayag Shukla, eminent art critic and Dr. Sachidanand Joshi, Member secretary, IGNCA. 

The other guests and speakers included Ramkrishna Vadela, Secretary I/C, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, Sr. Assistant Professor, SOPVA, IGNOU, New Delhi and Dr. Kumar Jigeshu, Assistant Professor, College of Art, Prof. (Dr.) Richa Kamboj, Head of Department, Kaladarsana, IGNCA, New Delhi and Mandira Row, Resident Curator, Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection, New Delhi.

This was followed by an international seminar on “Conservation of Diversity Lithuanian Experience” and a cultural music performance presented by a cultural group of Lithuania – “KULGRINDA”.

Lithuania or the Republic of Lithuania, is a country in the Baltic region of Europe; it lies on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea.

The international seminar was organised by IGNCA Kaldarsana division in collaboration with G20 Bharat2023 India, Sanskar Bharati, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, and the International Centre for Cultural Studies.

In the evening Zymantas Mozuraitis, Deputy Head of Mission at Embassy of Lithuania to India, Prof.  (Dr.) Shashi Bala, a renowned Indologist, Dr. Ignas Sadauskas, Lithuanian Guru and singer, flautist Chetan Joshi, and members of the Kulgrinda group were present at the seminar and the cultural presentation.

Prof. Shashi Bala said that this seminar and cultural musical performance is being conducted under the flagship of G20 Bharat2023 India.

She also emphasized that more in-depth research into the cultural relationships between India and Lithuania is required.

Zymantas Mozuraitis mentioned that India is expected to open its embassy in Lithuania in 2023.
 
Kulgrinda won the hearts of everyone present with their musical renditions, which not only included Lithuanian songs but also Sanskrit shlokas and the song Vande Mataram.
