Google marked its 27th anniversary on Saturday with a doodle featuring its original 1998 logo, evoking nostalgia for its early days.

The search engine giant, founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, said the celebratory doodle reflects its journey from a garage project to the world’s most widely used search engine.

“This Doodle celebrates Google’s 27th birthday! Google was founded in 1998 to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful,” the company wrote.

Recalling its beginnings, Google said: “As we celebrate Google’s birthday today, we remember our humble beginnings as a research project in a garage — proof that breakthrough moments can start in ordinary places.”

The doodle, featuring Google’s first logo, also invited users to explore its latest artificial intelligence innovations.

Google was reorganized in 2015 under its parent company Alphabet Inc., with Google as its largest subsidiary.
