New York, Nov 6 (IBNS): Popular search engine Google on Friday decorated its homepage with a colourful doodle to celebrate 201st birth anniversary of saxophone inventor Antoine-Joseph Sax who was also known as Adolphe Sax.

Born on  Nov 6, 1819 Adolphe Sax was a  Belgian musical instrument designer and musician who played the flute and clarinet.

He also invented the saxotromba, saxhornand saxtuba.

His father and mother were instrument designers themselves, who made several changes to the design of the horn.

Adolphe began to make his own instruments at an early age, entering two of his flutes and a clarinet into a competition at the age of 15.

He subsequently studied performance on those two instruments as well as voice at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

The musician died on Feb 7, 1894 in Paris

In the doodle, the musician is seen playing his own invention.
