Fankaari Fossils painting exhibition unveiled in Kolkata

Kolkata, June 9 (IBNS): Birla Academy of Art and Culture came alive with canvasses and life-sized installations, as Visual Artist; Rajesh Kr Yadav came over from Rajasthan to Kolkata, in a bid to promote his art.

"This is my first ever visit to Kolkata. I have on display, both, installations and paintings. As this city is known as the 'Cultural Capital of India', I wanted to give it a tribute alongside of course, giving the audience an opportunity to see my work. I have made an installation on Kavi Guru Rabindranath Tagore . I hope Kolkata appreciates my work," The artist said.

A BFA (Painting) from Rajasthan School of Art; Jaipur, Yadav went on to do his MA in drawing and painting from Rajasthan University.

Presently, he is an art mentor in Udaipur.

He is the recipient of the State Award and Best Presentation Award by Rajasthan Lalit Kala Academy; Jaipur, The Mohan Sharma Memorial Award, the 7th All India Art Exhibition by Avantika; New Delhi amidst others.

His recent exhibits were held at the World Fine Art Gallery; New York and Nehru Centre; London. His paintings are seen adorning the walls of the Nehru Centre; London, Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals Office, Chief Ministers office at Jaipur, HSBC Bank Corporate Office; Jaipur, BSNL Corporate Office; Jaipur, J&K Art Culture Academy; Jammu, Welcome Group – Rajputana Place; Sheraton, among other art connoisseurs.

The six -day extravaganza, which commenced from Tuesday, shall have within its folds, events like poetry reading and panel discussion on "Revival of Art" amongst other highlights revolving around promotion of art and culture.

The event was inaugurated by painter Wasim Kapoor  Mahesh Saharia; Consul of Indonesia, Raj Laxmi Ghosh, International Pianist & many others.

Upon being asked about the title of the art exhibit;  Mahesh Sharma replied; “Fankaari is a Hindustani term. Fankaar is a term to refer to an artist. By the name Fankaari Fossils, we meant to emphasize that art is ageless. Art in any form has been taken care of, nurtured and turned into fossils of time for the coming generation”.

The exhibition will be on from June 9 to June 14.
