Emami Chisel Art hosts retrospective of Indian artist Aparna Caur in Kolkata

To inaugurate her work, Bengali actors Prosenjit  Chatterjee, Pallavi Chatterjee and danseuses Tanusree Sankar and Mamata Shankar were present at the event.

Commenting on Apana Caur’s art works, Prosenjit Chatterjee said, “Her passion for art is shown through her paintings. It is my privilege to be a part of this exhibition. Art and culture have always acquired a very special place among the Bengalis and being a Bengali I feel her art works will be an inspiration for other artists as well.”

When asked about his passion for painting he laughs and says, “I am not a painter but I do have keen interest for paintings which I often do in my free time.”

“Painting, dancing and music are something which we Bengalis are related to from our childhood and this culture and art which we Bengali people are associated with have always made us proud,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, the artist expressed her delight and said that she is happy to have exhibited her work in Kolkata.

Apana said, “I am overwhelmed as well as proud that I could exhibit my first solo paper work in Kolkata. Kolkata has always been a great platform for artists and after almost 12 years I could exhibit my 100 paper works here.”

Her art works covers various aspects of environment, spiritualism, time, life and death, communal riots violence and peace.

It also captures the essence of life and ethos of women in present society.

The retrospective will start from Jan 6 and will end on Feb 8 in Kolkata.
