Kolkata/IBNS: Bengali film celebrities Abir Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Koel Mallick and others were in attendance at the 16th annual programme of Iswar Sankalpa, which works towards rehabilitating and reintegrating homeless people with psychological disabilities living in the streets and low-resource communities in Kolkata.

The organisation aims to work to provide holistic mental healthcare services and rebuild individual capacity while upholding their rights and dignity through a person centered, rights-based approach. We have assisted 3000+ homeless persons with psychosocial disabilities.

Speaking at the event, Abir, a premier Tollywood actor, said, "People, whom we consider as marginalised, are an integral part of our society. They are also human beings. Nothing can be bigger than humanity.

"There is always a tendency to divide people. So in this sphere, the way Ishawr Sankalpa is doing their works is really tough and praiseworthy."

Actor-director-singer Anirban Bhattacharya says, "People have no choice over their birth. By birth, one can be rich or poor due to existing inequality in the society. Ishawr Sankalpa is an organisation that is trying to reduce inequality."

Among other celebrities who attended the evening were actors Gourab Chatterjee, Devlina Kumar, Anindya Chatterjee.

US Consul General of Kolkata, Melinda Pavek, former Kolkata Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya were also present.

Iswar Sankalpa's secretary Sarbani Das Roy shares, "The movement from the streets to the stage of each person has been fraught with memories of actual loss of family, friends, a home, health, education and even identity.

"And yet the strength of humanity allows our people to laugh, live and move to a rhythm. This is what our celebration of 16 years journey symbolically represents. The resilience of the spirit of Iswar Sankalpa."
