‘A new dawn has risen for Bengal’: Tabla maestro Prodyut Mukherjee thanks PM Modi after BJP win

Kolkata/IBNS: Prodyut Mukherjee, Grammy Jury member and GiMA award-winning tabla maestro, has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership after the saffron party scripted history by winning West Bengal for the first time.

‘A new dawn has risen for Bengal’

In a Facebook post, Mukherjee wrote, “Through your tireless efforts and leadership, Bengal has achieved great success today. A new dawn has risen for Bengal, and it has begun to live again. Bengal has no fear now, only happiness and peace will prevail. This would not have been possible without you.”

‘Culture was monopolised’

The musician further alleged that a particular group had monopolised Bengal’s cultural space.

“In Bengal, a group had monopolized cultural events and controlled art and culture, leaving no space for others. Today, Bengal has freed itself from their grip. With the new dawn, Bengal is moving forward on its path again,” he wrote.

Mukherjee added, “Proud to be an Indian and proud to be a voter from Kolkata, West Bengal. New generation artists will get new opportunities again. Thank you and gratitude.”

BJP scripts historic Bengal win

The BJP registered its maiden victory in West Bengal by defeating the All India Trinamool Congress, which had ruled the state for 15 years after ending the Left Front regime in 2011.

The BJP, led by Modi, won 207 seats while the Trinamool Congress was reduced to 80.

The party selected Suvendu Adhikari as its first Chief Minister in the state. He took oath at the iconic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata last Saturday.
