Want a healthier heart? This cardiologist's 30-day challenge has just 3 simple rules

Improving heart health does not always require a strict diet or an intensive fitness routine. According to cardiologist Dr. Sanjay Bhojraj, adopting a few simple daily habits can significantly improve cardiovascular health and help your heart feel "years younger."

In a recent Instagram post, Dr. Bhojraj shared a 30-day heart health challenge, encouraging people to make small but consistent lifestyle changes throughout the month.

Beginning his post, he wrote: "Tomorrow is August 1st, which makes today a pretty good day to decide whether you're going to spend the next month getting older... or getting healthier."

Emphasising that chronological age does not necessarily reflect heart health, he added: "I've seen 60-year-olds with healthier hearts than people in their 40s because they finally started paying attention to the things that reduce their risk."

The cardiologist also cautioned against expecting overnight transformations but said meaningful improvements can occur within weeks.

"No, your heart isn't going to become 25 years younger in 30 days. But you'd be surprised how quickly your blood pressure can improve, how much better you sleep, how much more energy you have, and how different your body feels when you stop waiting for 'someday'," he wrote.

Three habits recommended in Dr. Bhojraj's 30-day challenge

  • Take a 10-minute walk after dinner every night.
  • Do 30 minutes of strength training at least twice a week.
  • Put your phone away and go to bed 30 minutes earlier each night.
