Abu Dhabi: The UAE has reported the first case of Monkeypox.

It is the first Gulf country to detect the disease.

The patient is a 29-year-old visitor from a West African country and she is receiving the required medical care in the UAE, WAM news agency reported as quoted by Al Arabiya.

Along with it in Europe, the Czech Republic and Slovenia also reported their first cases of monkeypox, joining 18 other countries to detect the virus outside its African base.

Experts believe that the number of cases are expected to rise further, but the overall risk to the general population remains low.
