Rajasthan sizzles at 48.9 degrees Celsius; severe heat wave across north and west India
Pune, June 3 (UNI): In view of the deepening of cross equatorial winds up to the parts of south Arabian sea and further to the north over Bay of Bengal along with persistent cloudiness, the southwest monsoon has further advanced into southernmost parts of Arabian sea, some more parts of Maldives-Comorin area, as well as southwest, southeast, and east coast of Bay of Bengal.
During the next 48 hours, cross equatorial flow over parts of south Arabian Sea is likely to increase gradually favouring further advancement of southwest monsoon over some more parts of south Arabian sea, Maldives-Comorin area, as well as southwest, southeast, and east coast of Bay of Bengal.
Day temperatures were above normal in some parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Saurashtra and Kutch, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, coastal and south interior Karnataka and in remaining parts of madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, north interior Karnataka, and Kerala.
Day temperatures were markedly above normal in some parts of central Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka and in remaining parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Telangana.
Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Konkan and Goa, Rayalaseema, Kerala and in remaining parts of Gujarat Region.
Day temperatures were below normal in remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and were appreciably to markedly below normal in some parts of West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar.
Day temperatures were normal over rest of the country. The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 48.9 degrees Celsius in Churu of west Rajasthan.
Heat waves to severe heat waves swept across isolated pockets of east and west Rajasthan, east and west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, south Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Marathwada, Gujarat region, and Telangana.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to lash at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, south interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep.
Heat waves to severe heat waves very likely to sweep across isolated pockets of east and west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, east and west Rajasthan, Marathwada, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab, Saurashtra and Kutch, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana.
Thunderstorm along with gusty winds very likely at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, north interior Karnataka, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema, south Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe.
Duststorm or thunderstorm along with gusty winds with speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph very likely at isolated places in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh during next 24 hours.
Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Uttarakhand, coastal and north interior Karnataka, Kerala and at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mainly dry weather prevailed in west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Lakshadweep.
