Punjab: COVID-19 records 61 fresh cases, tally climbs to 1,823

Chandigarh/UNI: Samples of as many as 61 patients tested positive for Coronavirus in Punjab on Sunday, taking the tally of infected persons to 1,823 in the state.

According to the official bulletin, 35 fresh cases were recorded in Ropar district, eight each in Amritsar and Fatehgarh Sahib, seven in SAS Nagar and one each in Kapurthala, Moga and Patiala districts.

Of the 31 fatalities so far, six have been registered in Ludhiana district, five in Jalandhar, four in Hoshiarpur, three each in SAS Nagar and Amritsar, two each in Patiala and Kapurthala and one each in Pathankot, Ferozepur, SBS Nagar, Ropar, Barnala and Gurdaspur districts.

According to the latest infection tally, Amritsar leads with 295 cases, followed by Jalandhar 175, Tarn Taran 157, Ludhiana 125, Gurdaspur 116, SBS Nagar 103, SAS Nagar 102, Patiala 97, Hoshiarpur 90, Sangrur 88, Muktsar 65, Moga 57, Ropar 55, Faridkot 45, Ferozepur 43, Bathinda 40, Fazilka 39, Fategarh Sahib 36, Pathankot 29, Kapurthala 25, Barnala 21 and Mansa 20.

At the same time 166 patients have been cured of the coronavirus and discharged from hospitals across the state, including 54 from SAS Nagar, 19 from Jalandhar, 18 each from SBS Nagar and Patiala, eleven from Pathankot, eight from Amritsar, seven from Ludhiana, six each from Hoshiarpur and Mansa, four from Moga, three each from Sangrur and Faridkot, two each from Fatehgarh Sahib, Ropar and Kapurthala and one each from Muktsar, Ferozepur and Barnala districts.

There are 1,626 active cases in the state at the moment. Among them, two patients are on ventilator and one is on oxygen support.

Out of 40,962 samples taken in the state, 1823 have tested positive, 35,293 negative, while reports of 3,845 were still awaited.
