New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Tuesday said over 12 lakh people have been vaccinated in the national capital so far, and in the wake of surge in coronavirus infection, number of beds will be increased in government and private hospitals.

For coronavirus patients, 5,000 more beds will be provided, he said, adding that in 33 government hospitals, people can get themselves vaccinated round the clock.

He hoped that the Union government will consider Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's appeal to open the coronavirus vaccination for all.

Stating that testing has been increased, he informed reporters that yesterday more than 65,000 coronavirus tests were conducted.

As many as 87,673 people were vaccinated in the national capital yesterday, highest so far, he claimed.

Around 73 per cent of the vaccinated people got the shots in government hospitals, while 23,737 opted for private hospitals, he added.

He said that walk-in vaccination will be done in government hospital after 1500 hrs.
