Thane/UNI: A 60-year-old man, who has been hailed as one of the COVID-19 warriors by his employer company, succumbed to the contagion here on Monday, a day after testing positive for the pandemic.

A resident of the Wagle Estate locality here, the man has been described by the company as a dutiful employee who readily offered his service when the company started making face masks.

Mourning the demise of such a responsible worker, the company has shut its' operation for a day as a mark of respect for the departed soul.

A neighbour of the deceased said that the man went to work till the last day before testing COVID-19 positive.

Titled as COVID-19 WARRIORS, the company pinned up a special poster on its' notice board beneath picture of the deceased.

Remembering his contribution, the company remarked, "Setting an example for all of us! The resilience, passion, and lover for his work has never stopped him from what he does."

"With only a month left for his retirement, passion for his work, his customer focus and hard work has only increased multi-folds," it added.
