Maharashtra: Covid-19 cases in Thane exceed 78,000

Thane/UNI: With addition of 1,472 new corona positive cases here in a single day on Sunday, the district's tally soared to 78,567, an official of the district collectorate said here.

The official also said that the toll in the district due to the pandemic climbed to 2,153, with addition of 38 more deaths today.

Navi Mumbai recorded the highest number of positive cases of 388 and 10 deaths today, it was stated.

The total number of positive cases reported today across the district were as such Kalyan-Dombivili-18,495, Thane-17,732 and Navi Mumbai-13,618.

The recovery rate in the district today was 67.11 per cent and the death rate stood at 2.74 per cent.

Meanwhile, in adjoining Palghar district, 13,817 positive cases and 265 deaths have been reported so far, an official said.

A 55-year-old police sub-inspector, attached to the Valiv police station under Vasai, died due to corona today, spokesman of the Rural Police said.
