Kidney racket :Five doctors, including CEO of Mumbai hospital arrested

| | Aug 10, 2016, at 06:37 pm
Mumbai, Aug 10 (IBNS): The Chief Executive Officer and four other doctors of Mumbai's L H Hiranandani Hospital have been arrested on Tuesday in connection with an alleged kidney racket, reports said.

The five doctors, arrested  late on Tuesday evening,  have been booked under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act 1994.

With them altogether 13 people have so far been arrested in connection with the case that came to light last month.

Mumbai police stumbled on the operation of the kidney racket following a tip-off that  a kidney transplant operation had been scheduled on July 14 at the  hospital where donor and recipient were not related.

Following investigation, police found that the donor was not the wife of the recipient as shown on papers.  Further investigation revealed that there was a racket and  many from the hospital were involved in it.
