India records new 44,658 COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours, 496 die

New Delhi: India registered 44,658 new cases in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health released data on Friday.

During the same period, 496 people died due to the deadly virus.

The death toll due to the virus now stands at 436861.

Active cases account for 1.06 percent of total cases,

India's Active caseload stands at 3,44,899.

Recovery Rate currently stands at 97.60 percent.

32,988 recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours.

India witnessed a deadly second wave of the pandemic when the spike in cases and death left people struggling for hospital beds and oxygen. The crematorium and burial grounds were also overwhelmed due to
