India records 41,831 new COVID cases, 541 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: India recorded 41,831 fresh infections of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours pushing the total caseload to 3,16,55,824, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.

During the same period, the death toll mounted to 4,24,351 with 541 new fatalities.

According to the Ministry's health bulletin, the active cases declined by 2,032, to stand at 4,10,952. It is now 1.30 per cent of the total caseload.

About 39,258 people recovered from the deadly virus during the past 24 hours, taking the total recovery count to 3,08,20,521, which is 97.36 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.34 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 46,82,16,516 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 17,89,472 were tested on Saturday.

Till date, 47,02,98,596 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines, with 60,15,842 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours.
