New Delhi/IBNS: India recorded 26,624 fresh coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 1,00,31,223, the Health Ministry data showed on Sunday morning.

The number of fresh infections is 5.8 per cent higher than Saturday when the country registered 25,152 cases.

During the last 24-hour period, India registered 341 deaths linked to the virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 1,45,447.

Active cases in the country stand at over three lakh while 95 lakh people have recovered from the disease, the government said.

India tops the chart in terms of recovery from the coronavirus cases worldwide, followed by Brazil, according to the Johns Hopkins University, which is tracking the global Covid-19 infection rate since its outbreak.

In a tweet,  Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said: "India's active caseload has been declining steadily, we are amongst the best performers in terms of recovery rate, fatality rate and various other parameters related to COVID-19."
