Covid: Three people kept in institutional quarantine after Samsung employee found positive in Mandi, HP

Shimla/UNI: Three people were put under institutional quarantine who traveled in shared Taxi recently along with a Samsung employees posted at Noida in UP tested positive for coronavirus belonged to Kunkar village of Jogindernagar area of Mandi district, the police said on Tuesday.

This was stated by the Director General of State Police Sitaram Mardi while interacting with media persons during a Facebook Live Session here.

Mardi said that the state now has two active positive patients of COVID-19 as one belonged to Sirmaur district who is being under treatment at ESI Hospital Kattha in Baddi and other one is in Nehrchock Medical College Mandi.

He said that with detecting of one case at Mandi, the state police placed the three others persons traveled with fresh detected patients from Noida to Mandi in a taxi in institutional quarantine. DGP said that five people along with driver travelled in a shared Taxi violating the lockdown rules as only one plus one that is two people are allowed in one vehicle.

He said that four people who shared taxi with Covid-19 patients include one person of same village Chauntra village and third one of Baijnath area of Kangra district.

The patient entered the state after doing his job DGP said adding that since he was posted at Samsung in Noida could not expected to get relaxation of lock-down as it was meant for stranded people only.

Terming the situation of pandemic unsatisfactory, he sad that number of COVID-19 cases mounted to more than 46000 and more than 1500 people died of it in the country.

The DGP informed that protests were held by some people who are placed in institutional quarantine at Chamba alleging that they were discriminated by not placing them at home quarantine. He clarified that to keep someone in home or institutional quarantine is sole decision of district administration.

He also informed that a Facebook post of Public Representative was hacked by some cyber fraudsters seeking donation on the name of Covid-19. People are directed to donate the Chief Minister Covid Fund and Prime Minister Care Fund only as number of such cyber criminals are duping the gullibles.

The DGP accepted that with opening of liquor vends on Monday people did not follow the social distancing. Police would ensure social distancing outside liquor shops strictly.

Expressing satisfaction over downloading of Arogya Setu App by more than nine crore people in the country, DGP also said that if this apps shows your coming out of home safe or low risk people should venture out of their home only.

DGP informed that villagers of Murang area of Kinnuar did not allow retired under secretary and his wife to enter their village after staying Shimla for more than one month of lock-down.

He hailed such incident and added that Gram Panchayat Pradhan and local representatives should ensure that people are adopting provision of home quarantine in the villages.

He said that later after intervention of DSP Morung this couple was allowed to enter into their home.
