New Delhi/IBNS: The number of COVID-19 positive cases in India touched 13,387, reveals government data released by the Ministry of Health on Friday.

The death toll due to the deadly disease now reached 437.

The number of patients discharged or cured are 1748.

Meanwhile, India has received Rapid Testing Kits from China which use antibody-based blood tests for Covid-19, media reports said.

An internal government assessment suggests that India may touch its peak of coronavirus cases in the first week of May, after which the number will decline, sources in the Home Ministry have told NDTV.

"The next one week is crucial. India is going to ramp up its testing. All those who have symptoms related to Severe Acute Respiratory Infection will be tested," a senior bureaucrat told the Indian news channel.

The disease originated from China's Wuhan region and then spread to different parts of the world.

Chinese mainland reports 26 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Chinese health authority said Friday that it received reports of 26 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland Thursday, of which 15 were imported, Xinhua news agency reported.

The other 11 new cases were domestically transmitted, the National Health Commission said in a daily report, noting that five cases were reported in Guangdong Province, three in Heilongjiang Province, two in Shandong Province and one in Liaoning Province.

No death was reported Thursday on the mainland. Three new suspected cases, all domestic ones, were also reported, with two in Heilongjiang Province and one in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
