Islamabad: Pakistan is witnessing a slow hike in COVID-19 positive cases ever since restrictions were relaxed in the country in recent times.

On Sunday, more than 1,000 cases of COVID-19 were reported during the last 24 hours, reports Gulf News.

According to the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan’s positivity rate was 2.57 per cent on Sunday with 29 deaths and 1,228 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours, reports the newspaper.

Meanwhile, only 3.5 percent of people in the country have been vaccinated against the deadly virus.

Despite the government's campaign to vaccinate as many people as possible against the novel coronavirus, only 3.5% of the population in the country has been inoculated so far, Geo News reported Tuesday.

According to data released by the National Command and Operation Centre, a total of  17,390,346 vaccine jabs have been provided across the country as of July 6, the Pakistani news channel reported.

Statistics show that more than 14% of the population has been partially vaccinated, while 290,377 vaccine jabs were administered across the country yesterday, July 5, Geo News reported.
