COVID-19 cases in West Bengal inches towards 2000-mark, 14 deaths recorded in last 24 hours

Kolkata/IBNS: With 153 new positive cases and 14 deaths reported in last 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has reached 1939, reports said.

According to reports, the figures include 1337 active cases, 113 deaths and 417 discharges.

As per a bulletin published by Bengal health department, Kolkata is the worst affected district in the state as the metro city has recorded 948 cases so far, including 614 active cases, 74 Covid fatalities, 52 more deaths due to comorbidity and 208 discharges.

The bulletin stated that 45 patients were discharged in last 24 hours while the number of Covid positive patients' deaths due to comorbidity stood at 72.

State's health officials said that recovery rate in West Bengal has mounted to 21.51 per cent.

West Bengal has tested 43414 samples so far, with 4046 tests were conducted in last 24 hours, the bulletin read.

Presently, 5921 persons are kept in government quarantine centres across West Bengal while 18458 people are under home surveillance in the state, reports said.
