COVID-19: 13 more test positive in Nagpur

Nagpur/UNI: Thirteen positive cases were reported while one person died of coronavirus on Sunday in Nagpur, a top health department official said.

With these 13 cases, the tally jumped to 354 while death toll stands at six in Nagpur.

According to the official, nine persons tested positive in IGGMCH and four in GMCH.

Meanwhile, 186 persons recovered so far. Total active case in Nagpur is now 153.

Sources said the person, who died, was brought dead from Shanti Nagar (the hotspot) in the city. He died at home and then his test came positive.

"The patient was feeling unwell at home on Sunday morning and was brought to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) for treatment. But he died on the way," the official said.

Meanwhile, a medical official in the hospital took throat swab sample of the deceased as he belonged to the hot spot area in the city.

Earlier in the day, India's Covid-19 count inched towards 91,000-mark as the country recorded its highest ever single-day spike with 4,987 fresh cases on Sunday, pushing the overall tally to 90,927.

Maharashtra has been the most-affected state in the country with 30,706 positive cases.

The state has extended the lockdown till 31st May. Third phase of the nationwide lockdown was set to end on May 17.
