Coronavirus lockdown: Action plan to start operations in Maharashtra

Mumbai/UNI:  Maharashtra Industries Department has prepared an action plan to help industries resume operations in 29 districts stalled in wake of Coronavirus lockdown.

The report will be submitted to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray soon, State Industries Minister Subhas Desai has said.

Soon after, a decision will be taken on resumption of industry operations in 29 districts of the Orange and Green zones barring the Red zone.

Desai was addressing members and office-bearers of Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) on its 15th foundation day and the birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on Tuesday.

About 500 entrepreneurs, including DICCI founding president Milind Kamble, West India president Nishai Shelke and Mumbai vice president Pankaj Salve were present during the video conferencing.

During the meeting, the participants apprised the Minister about the challenges faced by small, medium and micro enterprises due to Corona crisis.

One major problem, they said, was lack of playing capital due to the crisis. Even though the RBI has allowed banks to pay EMIs for three months, compound interest rates will be charged landing the professionals in trouble.

The Minister told the entrepreneurs that the Government intends to resume operations of industries in 29 such districts falling under the Orange and Green zones.

Meanwhile, in the districts coming under the Red zone, the implementation of lockdown will be stricter.

The report of the task force will be presented to the Chief Minister after it is completed, Desao said.
