Coronavirus: Global death toll crosses 2.893 million

Washington/UNI: The global death toll due to COVID-19 has topped 2.893 million, while the cumulative case tally has almost touched 133.5 million cases, said the US-based Johns Hopkins University in it's latest pandemic update.

Johns Hopkins University is the foremost and most credible global institution that tracks and compiles data regarding the pandemic.

As of 20:30 GMT Thursday (0200 hrs IST Friday), the number of cases globally stood at 133,499,369, including 2,893,583 fatalities.

The United States still has the highest case count in the world, with 30,983,624, including 559,849 fatalities.
