Chennai: A historic sight of Chandrayaan-3's launch from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on Friday was caught on camera by a passenger who was flying on a flight.

The video has now gone viral.

The flight was on its way from  Chennai to Dhaka when a passenger caught the moment on perhaps his mobile camera.

Dr P V Venkitakrishnan, Director (retired), ISRO Materials, and Rocket Manufacturing Expert, shared the video on Twitter and wrote: " Launch of Chandrayan 3 from flight. Sometime after takeoff from Chennai to Dhaka flight, pilot announced to watch this historical event."

This is India's third lunar mission.

Chandrayaan-3 is expected to land on moon on Aug 23.

If everything goes well then India is going to be the fourth nation after the US, China, and Russia to land its spacecraft on the surface of the moon and demonstrate the country's abilities for a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface.
