Baby elephant found dead on Malaysia highway

Kuala Lampur, June 19 (IBNS): A baby elephant was found dead on a Malaysian highway and expected to be killed by a running vehicle, according to BBC News.

The incident happened in the East-West highway, that links Kelantan state with the rest of Malaysia.

State park officials were first to spot the carcass of the elephant, reports said.

They even urged the drivers earlier to be cautious while riding on the highways.

Loo Kean Seong, director of the Perak Department of Wildlife and National Parks was quoted saying by media, "We have already erected signboards to notify motorists that there would be elephant crossings along the stretch of the highways".

Environmentalists said that the continuous loss of habitat forced the elephants to come on the highway.
