Afghanistan's COVID-19 cases reach 26,874

Kabul/Xinhua: The Afghan Ministry of Public Health confirmed on Wednesday 564 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of patients in the country to 26,874.

"A total of 1,126 tests were conducted within the past 24 hours, and 564 cases were positive for COVID-19 in 16 of Afghanistan's 34 provinces," the ministry said in a statement.

Thirteen COVID patients died within the period, taking the death toll to 504, the statement said.

The total number of recoveries reached 6,158, after 650 patients were recovered since early Tuesday.

The ministry has conducted 60,298 tests since February across the country, according to the ministry.
