Kolkata/IBNS: Amidst a series of allegations raised by oppositions that West Bengal government is hiding Covid-19 data, a Covid figure provided by state principal health secretary, Vivek Kumar, shows that 931 Covid-19 positive cases were reported in Bengal till Apr 30.

In a letter to Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan, West Bengal Health and Family Welfare department's principal secretary Vivek Kumar mentioned the number of Covid-19 positive cases reported from different Red Zone and Orange Zone districts of the state.

According to the data, more than 88 per cent Covid cases were reported from four Red Zone districts, including Kolkata, Howrah, North 24 Parganas and East Medinipur, of West Bengal when Kolkata alone reported 489 Covid-19 (52 per cent) till Apr 30 which was the highest.

Three other Red Zone districts, Howrah, North 24 Parganas and East Medinipur, reported 176, 122 and 34 Covid cases respectively.

Remaining 110 cases of the total 931 were reported from 11 Orange Zone districts in the state.

West Bengal government's Thursday (Apr 30) update showed that there were 572 active Covid-19 cases in the state, though, the latest Covid-19 figure in Bengal is unknown yet as the state health department did not issue any Covid bulletin on Friday (May 1).
